Jessica Chastain was at Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night to promote her movie Other Mommy, opening this weekend, and I will not be seeing it because I am not built for that kind of fright – but I do LOVE that she’s a scream queen, a proud scream queen, a scream queen before her Oscar and a scream queen who doubles down on scream queening after Oscar. Jessica Chastain is giving the horror genre her full respect.

When the Other Mommy trailer was first shared back in July, Jessica went viral for her “Other Mommy” face, the most f-cked up Stepford smile you’ve ever seen. Last night on Kimmel to demonstrated how to do it.

She’s not only demo-ing the face, she’s talking about demo-ing the face… and ends up adding some tears to the terror, taking it to a whole other level of scary, and then leans back, like she’s smoking a cigarette, humble-bragging her acting skills. I rate it. And you will note she doesn’t have to be a total asshole on set and delay production like Jared Leto to get in and out of character.

But there’s more horror in this interview, even before they get to talking about her horror movie, at least for me. In my opinion, RV-ing is a horror movie, and both Jessica and Jimmy exchange their respective RV horror stories because Jessica spent the summer RV-ing all over the place and it sounds like it was rough, which was surprising to her but not surprising to me because going on a road trip in a vehicle that people sleep and sh-t in is a f-cking nightmare… and she did it with EIGHT PEOPLE… OH MY GOD.

Jimmy has all kinds of RV regret too because he and his family did it during COVID, after years of thinking he was an RV person only to discover that he is definitely not an RV person and he could not have been happier when they pulled up to Caesar’s in Vegas and left that mess behind.

What do you mean you have to stop and hook up the “grey water”? What do you mean it smells if you don’t? Wait, nobody answer this. I can’t know. In the same way I can’t watch scary movies. But I get that other people are really into horror movies. So rom-coms = holidays at the hotel and horror movies = RV travel. Is that fair?
