Karamo Brown covers PEOPLE this week, with a headline about his sobriety and friction with his Queer Eye castmates. This is not exactly new information; he skipped a talk show appearance with a pointed written statement that was read, on live TV, in front of his castmates. And it’s not just Karamo. Jonathan Van Ness’s on-set behaviour (specifically, angry outbursts) was covered in a Rolling Stone profile and Bobby Berk left under pretty dramatic circumstances.

This kind of mess isn’t rare with large casts (The View and morning shows have had a lot of cast feuds and abrupt exits). Bobby Berk might have been pushed out but in hindsight, securing his own series on HGTV while his ex-castmates were tied up on the last season of Queer Eye really worked out for him.

It’s a “Something’s Gotta Give” summer (beach house, situationship with your daughter’s ex, fling with a hot ER doctor).

Chappell Roan has been fairly quiet lately (after the whole not-her-bodyguard debacle) and recently posted a cross-promo with Crocs. I had to look up her endorsements (she also partners with MAC, match made in heaven). From this 2024 Rolling Stone profile, “She’s not doing anything that doesn’t serve the music. “All the money goes to the world-building,” she says. “That’s why I am saying no to every f-cking brand deal right now, because I’m like ‘Does it fit in this world?’ No, H&M does not fit in this world. Also, f-ck H&M. No amount of money is going to [make me] consider working with [anyone]. It has to be a hundred percent right.” Two years ago, she was a breakout artist and 24-years-old. I’m not saying her ethos has changed or that Crocs are materially the same or better or worse than H&M (I don’t know enough about their business or manufacturing to decide that) but the reality is, artists need cash flow and streaming doesn’t provide that. It’s expensive to be Chappell Roan and if you can cover a fair wage for a very important makeup artist from a few Croc posts, that’s an economic reality.

Yesterday I mentioned Francesca Scorsese and it reminded me that she’s been cast in season two of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. I really enjoyed the first season and wasn’t sure season two would happen or if it would be a completely different cast (like True Detective). Donald Glover is directing and Maya Erskine will be back, thank goodness.

US Weekly is reporting that Shaun White is getting back into dating, which means that he’s been photographed with someone and those pictures are coming out soon and he wanted to get ahead of it. Not that he has a big scandal, but the speculation about him and Nina Dobrev breaking off the engagement because he was cheating has been pretty consistent.
