It’s been a week since I posted about Lindsay Lohan at the LA premiere of Freakier Friday and her collaborating with Andrew Mukamal, who vaulted to the top of the power stylist list after working with Margot Robbie on the Barbie press tour. Lindsay’s look for the Hollywood premiere was both Barbie and Disney princess, the perfect vibe for the movie and this phase of her career and opening a studio movie for the first time in years.

This week Lindsay’s been in New York. She was photographed at JFK yesterday, heading out with her husband and child after wrapping up all her media commitments in the city and leaving behind an impressive streak of outfits while she was there, an excellent showcase of the partnership she now has with Andrew.

You’ll recall, when Andrew was styling Margot for the Barbie tour, his inspiration was the Barbie archive. With Lindsay, his inspiration is… well… Lindsay. Being able to pay homage to yourself through fashion is a goddamn flex, I love this for her. Here she is throwing back to The Parent Trap (with a dash of Clueless):

And Annie’s twin, Hallie Parker:

Lindsay and Andrew took a brief break from the self-tribute for a Carrie Bradshaw moment at the NYC premiere in a Jacquemus dress that’s OK, it’s just not the most interesting Jacquemus I’ve ever seen.

My favourite Lilo look from this week is the Pink Slip band tee (another self-reference) over the micro leather skirt – SO good.

The reason this stood out for me is because, seriously for real, for the last two weeks I’ve been online browsing for an elevated tennis skirt. I wear tennis skirts to play golf, this is my attempt to just walk around in life, even when I’m not golfing, in clothes that could work for golf and also work or dinner or whatever.

Lindsay is basically wearing a tennis skirt – leather, but still in the spirit of a tennis skirt and the built-in belt is a great feature. Don’t have an ID on the brand and Andrew didn’t tag it but my first assumption was Balmain. Can’t find it so far online but if you can afford Balmain, there is a leather mini with cargo pockets available now.

A leather tennis mini, though, isn’t the most challenging find right now without spending your mortgage on it. There are many faux leather options. This one at Revolve is giving 90s play-rock with the side buckles and here’s another at Revolve with wide pleats and also side straps. Much more affordable.

Like I said, these aren’t hard to find, it’s just a matter of how special you want it. And that brings me back to my search for an elevated tennis skirt and which one I bought. I found it on Sunday and at that point, all sizes were available. I just checked and their inventory is dropping so just a heads up if you’re interested. The Reformation Brinley comes in midnight and she is THE ONE. It works with a tee, a tucked in shirt, a boxy short sweater, a turtleneck in the winter over tights, a crop jacket – so many options. And I LOVE the material – substantial enough to hold shape but also not heavy. The size of the pleats is exactly right. The belt is exactly right. AND THE CARGO POCKETS! Come on!
