Kathleen texted me on Monday night. “Are we seeing Little together opening weekend?” My response: F-CK. YES. We should see it twice.”
We are serious about this. We might see it back to back. Like Prem said, April’s looking like a GOOD month. Great month. Lots of good things are happening in entertainment this month: Game of Thrones, Avengers, the Sussex baby… and Little comes out on April 12.
Regina Hall, Issa Rae, and Marsai Martin have been on the press circuit all week to promote the movie. For Issa, it’s a double celebration – she hasn’t confirmed it herself but her Insecure co-stars Yvonne Orji and Jay Ellis congratulated her on her engagement to Louis Diame at the NAACP Image Awards last weekend. And now she’s repping a film featuring three black leads and directed by a black woman. Also, with Little, Marsai Martin has made Hollywood history.
The story is her idea. She’s an executive producer, the youngest executive producer Hollywood has ever seen. She’s 14 years old. She’s already one of the stars of one of the best comedies on television, black-ish. She just won two NAACP Image Awards. Marsai Martin has her own production company and signed a first-look deal with Universal two months ago. This is a big deal. A big enough deal that she was just profiled by the Wall Street Journal about her “clout”.

Also…her STYLE. Every outfit Marsai’s worn on this press tour has been straight fire, on top of the her two looks at the Image Awards. She shares a stylist with Issa, Jason Rembert. You remember Ezra Miller on the Crimes of Grindelwald carpets? Here, let me refresh your memory:
That’s the work of Jason Rembert.
Little opens next Friday. Let’s watch the trailer again, I love it so much.
