Intro for June 3, 2026
Dear Gossips,
Please, if it’s OK, let’s indulge in a little silliness and chaos – and the good kind, not the harmful kind of chaos that’s happening at CBS News although, actually, what’s going on over there is more terrifying f-ckery than it is silly. I mean the kind of silly that is Masters of the Universe. The movie comes out on Friday, a full review will be posted then.
There are some questions about whether or not Masters of the Universe will perform well at the box office. What’s already a win for me, however, is Nicholas Galitzine, and specifically how he’s been promoting this project: unseriously. This is a compliment. This tracks with the tone of the movie, the whole energy around this specific superhero with the stupidest name among superheroes: He-Man. Nobody needs to approach this with gravitas. What is required is nonsense. Pure nonsense. And Nicholas delivers, both in the movie and on the press tour.
Here’s an example of the nonsense – this bit on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

It’s perfect. Not just the wig and the lip-synching (and maybe a little singing?) but his facial expressions, this is taking me out.
And then his interview with Jimmy Fallon. During which he talks about taking so many sh-ts when he was preparing for the role before their conversation turns to playing with swords.
@fallontonight @Nicholas Galitzine was "pooping a lot" while preparing for his role as He-Man in @mastersmovie 😭 #FallonTonight #TonightShow #NicholasGalitzine #MastersOfTheUniverse #HeMan ♬ original sound - FallonTonight
All of this is dumb AF, in the rare instance that dumb is fine, almost preferred. No one with that hair should ever be not dumb. And he’s exactly where he belongs – on a press tour for a dumb movie that aims to entertain by being dumb and, you know, not f-cking running a country, or a major broadcast network.
Yours in gossip,
Lainey
