Intro for October 21, 2025
Dear Gossips,
You may have noticed that I did not specify that the Blue Jays were playing in game 7 of the ALCS yesterday. This is because I’m superstitious AF. And I was anxious AF. Apologies to my neighbour because there was so much nonsense shouted out of my mouth last night, it was embarrassing. But they did it.
The Toronto Blue Jays are returning to World Series and the Los Angeles Dodgers are coming here which means, Shohei Ohtani will actually be on a plane here. That joke was all over socials last night immediately following the Jays win.
I've seen approximately 250 "Shohei Ohtani is on a plane to Toronto" tweets in the last three minutes... 😂

If you’re not familiar, the Jays were one of the teams Shohei was allegedly considering (in retrospect, it seems unlikely that he took the offer all that seriously) and during the height of the speculation frenzy over where he would end up, there was a report that he was on a flight to Toronto (to the point where they were tracking a specific plane) which was breaking news in the city but also throughout sports media. In the end, it was Robert Herjavec from Shark Tank, LOL.
For those of you who are not in Canada and are not affiliated with LA, and also aren’t from the Dominican Republic, cheer for the underdog, because the Jays are coming into the Fall Classic as +184 underdogs. I mention the Dominican because our beloved, Vladimir Guerrero Jr, aka Vladdy, is Canadian-Dominican.

So many of Vladdy’s moments have gone viral during these playoffs. And the latest is this one – when he was so emotional during his post-game interview with Hazel Mae (a legend herself!) and getting rid of his contacts to let the tears flow more comfortably. Mi corazón!

To bring it back to entertainment, this was just one night after Vladdy was viral for his previous post-game chat with Hazel when he was “I was born ready”. It’s another example of why we worship Hazel. She put the question to him, she teed him up, and then you’ll notice how her instincts kicked in, picking up on Vladdy’s millisecond of hesitation and the crowd’s reaction, Hazel takes a step back, making sure she was out of the shot. It was an unspoken invitation to the cameraperson, Alex Frazao, sensing this could be special, to create cinema. And then Vladdy, because he was born ready, a pure performer himself, allowed the lens to love him.

That’s three people in spiritual alignment, showing the f-ck out of their work, coming together to deliver one of the most beautiful shots in Toronto sports history. Maybe even beyond Toronto since the American outlets were all over it too.
It’s kinda fitting in that sense, right? The Dodgers vs the Jays. Hollywood comes to Hollywood North. Let’s f-cking GOOOOO.
Yours in gossip,
Lainey
