I can’t remember the last time we saw Shakira at Paris Fashion Week, or if she’s ever been at PFW; if she has it’s been years. And during those years she may have been putting someone else first. But all that changed last June when she announced that she and Gerard Piqué were over because he cheated on her. 

 

Since then, she’s been through anger, disappointment, and pettiness, came around to acceptance which then, it would seem, gave way to fun and celebration. Because it has been a fun and celebratory few months with her move to Miami, the flirtation with Lewis Hamilton (we’ll get to Lewis in a minute), and now serving looks in Paris. 

Yesterday, Shakira was one of the big names at the Fendi presentation, crushing it in a white tank over black pants and a half-kilt. My favourite of her looks this week, though, happened a couple of days ago – at Viktor & Rolf, where she showed out in a white trench with metal trim and “N” and “O” in giant lettering across her chest. The design is meant to be off-putting, but it’s also cheeky and funny. They know it’s probably a “NO”, but that’s also kind of the point of these kinds of fashion stunts. And what makes it even more hilarious, at least to me, is how the “O” seems bigger than the “N”, so that it reads almost the way you would say it, with your voice getting louder at the end, turning a one-syllable word into a minimum two-syllable word: “Nnnn-OHHHH-OHHHH”, lol. 

 

And then that lapel just flopping over it like a dangling lip, as the word forces its way out.

It’s just a coat, Lainey, you’re reading too much into it. This is couture week, there’s no such thing as reading too much into clothes. But, sure, if we want to dial it back, it is actually a really well-designed coat. The fit is perfect. 

 

As for Shakira’s next stop… 

Paris and then… London? The British Grand Prix is this weekend. It’s a quick trip from Paris to London when you’re a celebrity and this is Lewis’s home track. If you have the chance to watch Lewis race anywhere, it would be his home track. It could be a Shakira, Tom Cruise, and Lewis reunion, just as it was in Miami. 

Next, Camila Cabello was also at the Viktor & Rolf show alongside Shakira wearing what in my opinion is her best outfit EVER.

This dress is the perfect length on her, short enough so that she can wear it with boots. I love the high collar, the shoulders and the sleeves, the lace across the chest – it’s playful and naughty, it’s attitude and sass, so well-suited to her, and you can tell, she knows it, she is feeling herself, as she should. Maybe Camila is moving into a new style era. 

Shakira and Camila were on a similar schedule at Paris Fashion Week as Camila showed up for Fendi yesterday and what a front row this was because it wasn’t only the two of them but Cardi B joined the party too. 

 

Cardi won fashion week well before her appearance at Fendi so this is a victory lap. She is sickening in this sequined body-con dress that changes colour depending on the light. Sometimes it’s silver-grey; sometimes there’s a purple hue; sometimes it’s copper – whatever the angle she has been the queen of PFW. And it’s hard work, which explains why she had to be carried by her bodyguard into the car.
