Prince William and Catherine arrived in Dublin today to kick off a three day tour of Ireland. The trip will “focus on the relationship between the two countries, and build on the theme of remembrance and reconciliation.” They’re meeting with President of Ireland Michael D Higgins and then visit the Garden of Remembrance. At some point, I’m guessing they’ll be asked to pull a pint.

As you can see, Will and Kate’s outfits for their first appearance were pretty on the nose in matching green. In their positions, it’s almost a requirement. Like you have to play it safely for this kind of situation – there’s no such thing as too much respect. For William, then, it was a green tie. Kate went green on green on green coming off the plane with a green dress, green coat, green clutch, green headband, and green shoes.

The dress, by Alessandra Rich, is gorgeous. It looks amazing on her, with the pleats in front, the high collar, the billowing sleeves to cuffed wrists, and the two-piece illusion falling to exactly the right spot on her legs. She’s spectacular in this outfit, so memorable, that it’ll probably be a while before she re-wears it since it’s such an impression.

Will and Kate will return to London on Friday which means they’ll be out of town when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle mark their first joint appearance since Sussexit at the Endeavour Fund Awards. And then on Sunday, it’s Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey where House Cambridge is expected alongside House Sussex for the first time in months. It’s the event we all have marked on our calendars and it’ll be a live broadcast which means people will be tuning in to video assumption the whole thing even though, you’d think, at this point they would know it and won’t want to be the ones to overshadow the proceedings….right?
