It’s been quiet(ish) the last week or so in Hollywood. Because many celebrities are getting ready for the Oscars. And it’s not just the Oscars proper but all the events leading up to the Oscars. Things started picking up last night with the Costume Designers Guild Awards and the Vanity Fair New Hollywood party. There are more parties tonight, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. So they have to pace themselves. And, of course, there are all the treatments and workouts and fittings that have been happening – this, after all, is the week to be seen, to be part of the action. Everyone who can be in LA wants to be in LA, even if they have nothing to do with the Oscars. It’s the final stretch of an award season that has felt longer than most, perhaps because it’s been so competitive.
You know who refreshingly doesn’t look exhausted by it though? Yalitza Aparicio. She was at the Vanity Fair event last night in a great gold dress, posing alongside another 2018 breakout Henry Golding. Yalitza’s wardrobe has been getting better and better every time she steps out. Can’t wait to see what she’s wearing on Sunday.

While the Oscars are dominating Hollywood, over in London, there was a different priority. We are now just 7 weeks away from the premiere of the final season of Game of Thrones and a few cast members were seen leaving the Corinthia Hotel last night, including Sophie Turner and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. The Corinthia is a common place for junkets and press. The paps are calling this a “secret press day” and while there’s been no official word on what exactly they were doing there, this does fit the timeline for promotion. And during promotion is when we might pick up some clues.
Where Sophie and Nikolaj are concerned, we already know that Sansa Stark and Jaime Lannister have survived to this point. But…Kristofer Hivju was also seen at the Corinthia, or at least someone who looks a lot like him. If he’s doing press, does that mean Tormund survived the fall when Viserion blue-lasered the wall? And if they’re sending him out in the open like this, does that mean it’s not a spoiler they’re worried about? After a year and a half of waiting for answers, we are finally almost there.
