The Jays and the Stays
You didn’t think I could go a whole day without mentioning the Toronto Blue Jays, did you? The World Series is starting in 24 hours, basically two blocks away from where I’m writing this post. My home team is in it - as the heavy underdogs, which is OK. It’s not like we haven’t been in a state of anxiety anyway for the last month, even before the regular season ended because it came down to the last game for us to clinch the American League East.
Anyway, a reader called Cherie sent me an email yesterday that made me laugh, and that’s the reason I’m writing about it on the eve of the Fall Classic. Because admittedly I had forgotten that this happened.
A new open air entertainment venue opened in Toronto this past summer: Rogers Stadium. The first act to play the stadium was Stray Kids, and Seungmin was seen on stage in a Jays jersey. That was June 29 and on that day, the Jays beat the Red Sox to kick start a 10 game win streak that would put them on top of the AL East, and they never looked back.
A little over a week into that streak, the Jays tweeted this:
우리가 찾던 승리 요정이신가요? https://t.co/fjfMwNqVeT pic.twitter.com/JvHA4AF4BZ
— Toronto Blue Jays (@BlueJays) July 7, 2025
The original tweet is in Korean, a flirty message asking if Seungmin was the “victory fairy” that they’ve been looking for. If you haven’t been following, the Jays social media team has been all-star, they are cheeky and hilarious and ON IT.
Thank you to Cherie for reminding me that the Jays and the Stays (Stray Kids fan name) have a relationship and over the last few days, since the Jays secured their spot in the World Series, Stays have been revisiting Seungmin’s Jays moment and celebrating his contribution. We could use some more victory fairy so, Stays, if you’re reading this, do your thing!

The best Halloween costume based on movie ideas and I read this only for The Materialists because I don’t know how you make a costume out of that movie, I am not creative enough. (The Ringer)
We’re still talking about how Gen Z and Alpha don’t want to see sex in media because, again, when the only conversations you have are the ones on social media, it flattens every discussion. (The Mary Sue)
