Taylor Swift: The Chancellor’s Girlfriend

I don’t know what a Tight End University is, and for our purposes here, just the basics will do: an event where football people do football things founded by football players, the most gossip-notable being Travis Kelce. The reason we are talking about Tight End University is because Taylor Swift joined Travis there as she continues to extend her downtime. The downtime in itself is an era. 

Taylor was wall-to-wall busy from 2022 to 2024 with the release of Midnights and then The Eras tour and then another album, The Tortured Poets Department, and more concerts that took her around the world. In the middle of all that is when TNT first started. These last few months, then, since the end of the tour in December 2024, have been spent fully luxuriating in WAG life (with, obviously, time set aside to secure ownership of her masters). 

And she was in Nashville with Travis at Tight End University in this capacity: as the girlfriend of the Chancellor. Which is what this video of their arrival at the party last night is giving. 

When you’re one of the biggest popstars of your generation, when local economies are boosted by your presence, when you command your own metaverse, role-playing for funsies as the plus one must be… well… fun, don’t you think? Like a queen dressing in plain clothes and sneaking out of the castle to hang among the commoners. 

This is what I meant earlier at the start of this post when I said that her downtime in itself is an era. She looks like she’s having a great time in her WAG era. Like truly her WAG era. When all she’s doing is WAG-ing and nothing else, temporarily. That’s part of the enjoyment, isn’t it? 

What I do want to fight about, though, is the technicality. Swifties are saying that this is TNT’s “first red carpet”, their “red carpet debut”. Like, instead of doing it at the Grammys or some other premiere or major show, they chose this party to mark their milestone, as they arrive at the venue and walk into the event on a red carpet. Bullsh-t. Sorry, but this does not qualify. If they did they’d be walking on red carpets every time they went to someone’s wedding. 

We need a media line and a spectacle. We need stanchions and a backdrop that isn’t a hotel corridor, and a carpet that doesn’t have stains on it, are you kidding me?! Enough with this nonsense, this is NOT their first red carpet, this was not a debut – gossips, please, we should expect better for a celebrity of her status.
