Remember the other day when Hollywood insiders who allegedly rep A-list talent were bitching to Page Six that this year’s Met Gala was being ruined by influencers and TikTokers? One of them said that the real stars were staying away from the event this year because the pandemic is still happening and getting dressed up wasn’t their thing at this time. I mean… have these publicists and agents been paying attention to the red carpets? Because there’s been a lot of dressing up. Safely, of course.
Here are Thandiwe Newton and Nico Parker at the Hollywood premiere of Reminiscence last night. These are strong looks on their own but together, in combination, it’s even better. Thandiwe is glorious in yellow and metallic and that was the perfect hair choice for this outfit.
Nico’s all-over same print, with the dress and the matching tights, is also excellent. Both are bold without clashing. In fact the colours on each complement the other and I appreciate how the difference in fabrics reflects their respective style vibes. And how was it only two years ago that Dumbo came out? Nico is 16 years old now and has grown at least three inches if not more since we last saw her on a red carpet with her mother which was at the Dumbo premiere:
It was just announced a few weeks ago that Nico’s been cast in the series adaptation of the video game The Last of Us, starring Pedro Pascal and it sounds like it’s another prestige HBO production, their first based on a video game, with a big budget and an acclaimed showrunner, Craig Mazin whose previous series, Chernobyl, won all the awards. Filming on the series just started and the series won’t premiere until next year but it’s going to come with a lot of buzz. So keep your eye on Nico, big things are ahead.
