The Ballad of Jennifer pt. 1 (Lopez edition)

Office Romance, the new rom-com starring Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein, debuts on Netflix this Friday. I know Lainey liked it, but I am still feeling burnt by Marry Me, I’m not sure I can dive into another JLo rom-com just now. I am one of those people who just…doesn’t like her in rom-coms. Sorry to JLo, I know she loves being in rom-coms, but she is like universally bad in them (also still burnt by Maid In Manhattan). Her best roles remain in films like Out of Sight and Hustlers, where she is combining toughness and vulnerability, but she just doesn’t seem to like doing too many of those roles. Oh well.

She did, however, look AMAZING at the UK premiere of Office Romance.

 

The dress is Richard Quinn, and I love the Eighties vibe with the strong shoulders, big earrings, and neon color. I’m not crazy about the almost-a-pussy-bow, but it doesn’t totally ruin the look for me, either. It’s a tinge of tacky, again going to the Eighties feel of the look, and JLo knows how to work tacky (compliment). She’s kind of like Dolly Parton to me, in that it’s not that I seek to dress like JLo, I just appreciate her commitment to her aesthetic. I mean, even here, when she could totally rock a bright pink lip, she is committed to her nude lipstick. There is no greater love in JLo’s life than her love of a nude lip.

In other JLo news, her twins are graduating high school. Emme’s graduation was last weekend—the kids went to different schools, so they have different graduations, but Emme and Sam Affleck attended the same school, and they were seen chatting at the graduation ceremony.

I genuinely think it’s sweet that the Affleck-Lopez/Muñiz kids remain friends after Ben Affleck and JLo split up. Like if anything good came out of Bennifer 2.0, it seems to be that the kids gained new friends. (Also, I know there is speculation that Emme changed their name to “Oskar”, but I cannot find anything definitive on that, so until there is a source better than “random Instagram page”, I’m sticking with Emme, but my eyes are peeled for better info.)

I also like to think that Jennifers Garner and Lopez have a secret friendship, like maybe they’re not “getting coffee” friends, but I bet there’s a text chain. I bet that text chain is killer. I would LOVE to see that text chain (if it exists). More on Jennifer Garner later.
