Jennifer Lopez: A Casual Rookie

Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein have been dealing with dating rumours ever since they started filming Office Romance over a year ago. The movie has been out for four months, they did a whole press tour together with the speculation working as a side story to the promotion. And then all of that went away until this past weekend when they were both at the same party together in LA and left together and now, since they don’t officially have to be selling the movie anymore, the intrigue is picking up again over whether or not they’re a thing.

According to Page Six from a couple of days ago, JLo and Brett are “casually dating”. Now Us Weekly is claiming to have exclusive details on their situationship. According to a supposed Us Weekly insider:

“They wanted to maintain professionalism while working, but the spark was hard to ignore,” the insider shares. “They started hooking up during the press tour for Office Romance, but it was on and off. It was never going to be serious, and they have been on the same page about that.”

Another source adds that:

“It is very casual. They see each other occasionally and hook up. They have strong chemistry, and Jen genuinely likes him, but it is not serious.”

I mean, all of this is unserious but we can talk seriously about how this is virtually the first time in all of JLo’s nearly three decades of fame that we’re gossiping about her love life like this – not in terms of locking in but usually words like “casual” and “hook up” without even remotely entertaining the idea that she could get married (again).

JLo has now been single, not in a serious relationship, since breaking up with Ben Affleck which was April 2024. That’s two and a half years, the longest stretch of not in love and loving (being in) love for her since she became a celebrity. A casual dating rookie in her 50s is exactly the look right now. So whether or not it’s true that Brett Goldstein is on her roster, the bigger point is that she should have a roster. And maybe the more fun question is who else should be on the roster.
