What Else?
Everyone under 25 probably knows Kylie Cantrall because of Descendants: The Rise of Red. She plays red, and her mother, the Queen of Hearts, is played by Rita Ora. Rita was all about red on the press tour and like mother like daughter because Kylie is doing the same thing and this is a cute outfit but one of my style antis is that I don’t love a black tight with a different colour shoe. This, however, does not apply to fishnets. I’m probably alone on this. (GoFugYourself)
This story about Ryan Reynolds paying Deadpool writers out of his own pocket makes Ryan Reynolds look like a hero and, that’s great, my next point is not about him – the last decade of his career has just been so textbook for how a Hollywood movie star just keeps winning without being a dick. But I don’t want this example to be a standard. Because that absolves studios and producers from paying for the writing. And, as we learned from the strike last year, it’s not like they were valuing writers to begin with. (Pajiba)
In other Deadpool news, it’s now confirmed that Stray Kids will be on the Deadpool & Wolverine soundtrack. As we saw, Ryan and Hugh Jackman met up with Bang Chan and Felix recently when they were in Seoul so does that mean they were shooting part of the video? (Soompi)
I am married to someone who thinks he’s a meteorologist. He is always looking at the weather map and telling me what’s “developing”. My answer, “Do you have a degree?” Anyway, in the summer, where we live, where the weather is so volatile (as evidenced yesterday with that crazy storm and all the flooding), this man is constantly looking up the sky and saying sh-t like, “those clouds could turn into tornados”. So this piece by Hal Sundt at The Ringer about “Why We Remain Fascinated With Twisters” absolutely applies to Jacek. I however will not ask him to see it with me because then his “expertise” is just going to get worse. Or better, whatever. (The Ringer)
The UK has a new Prime Minister, Keir Starmer. John Oliver did a hilarious bit on him on Last Week Tonight a couple of weeks ago, if you haven’t seen it, you should go back and watch. Anyway, Mr Starmer often holds hands with his wife, Lady Victoria Starmer. And the British papers have found a way to compare this to Prince Harry and Meghan and be mad about it, or something? My takeaway question is this: is the Telegraph anti-Labour? (Celebitchy)
