There were two Timothée Chalamet stories making the rounds yesterday. The first – an update on his situationship with Kylie Jenner which isn’t really an update, it’s basically just Kris Jenner trying to assure people that they’re still a thing.

Apparently a source told ET:

"Kylie and Timothée are casually seeing each other, but are trying to keep it low-key. They are becoming more comfortable with each other, but Kylie wants to take things day by day and see where it goes. Her family thinks it's great that Kylie is doing her thing and they are supportive.”

The source adds, "Timothée loves that Kylie is such a hands-on mom and a boss. He appreciates her confidence and thinks she's incredibly beautiful."

OK, Kris. But it might as well be a press release.

In other Timmy news, a new interview with Vogue, pegged to him being the new ambassador for Bleu de Chanel. We saw him filming the upcoming short film/ad for the fragrance a few weeks ago, directed by Martin Scorsese. Chanel is pretty selective when it comes to men repping the house. But then again, Timothée is a once-in-a-generation star. He’s an actor and he’s a fashion icon which, I know, is a word the culture uses too liberally but in his case, with all the looks he’s given us, with how he’s become one of the most anticipated arrivals on a red carpet for what he wears, I don’t think the word is being tossed around cavalierly where he’s concerned. He is the male equivalent of Zendaya in these times.

And Timmy fully engages with that side of his celebrity. Unlike so many actors before him who pretend not to care about the clothes and talk about style like it’s a happy accident, Timmy talking to Vogue about the fits, about his favourite of all time (so far), which is his look for the Met Gala in 2021 where he wore a tuxedo jacket over sweatpants and Converse:

He also tells Vogue about how much he misses Topshop and buying from the women’s section. And he mentions that he had a fitting with Craig Greene a year and a half ago but hasn’t yet had occasion to wear those pieces; that tells me he’s very, very thoughtful and deliberate and specific about what looks he wants for which events, which ones should be worn now and what items to save for later impact.

Timmy has been publicly known to self-style and does not have a stylist. He does mention Jamie Taylor, his groomer. That’s Jamie’s job title, “men’s groomer”, and Austin Butler, Sebastian Stan, and Channing Tatum are also clients. The way Timmy’s referring to her, it sounds like she does a lot more than his hair – which is a thing unto itself. Sounds like she might be a secret style weapon. It’s giving IYKYK energy and I’m wondering when someone will make it so that we know more.

As for Timmy’s next project, playing Bob Dylan, which he’s been prepping for at least two years (?) now? Filming begins this summer. James Mangold is directing A Complete Unknown, about Dylan’s early years, and Elle Fanning was just added to the cast. Gossip Genie or nah?
