Anya Taylor-Joy was not at the Met Gala. I guess they thought Chris Hemsworth being one of the co-chairs this year would have been enough promote Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. Until he showed up in the most nothingburger suit and did nothing for the conversation. But, you know, the schedule is the schedule. And Anya’s schedule had her elsewhere on Monday.

Mexico City. Where she was seen in two outfits, both of them Furiosa-coded. Let’s start with the more obvious look for the character, which I LOVE.

Some would argue that this one is more evening whereas the white strappy look would be better suited to day. I quite like how the decision was made because the chrome look suits the setting and the background. As you can see, the whole metallic vibe is very Mad Max but with those flowers, it perhaps could have worked for Met Gala so now I’m wondering whether or not a version of this was in production for a possible Met Gala appearance and they modified it because of the promotional schedule?

Look at the work required to put this piece together. And PS excellent song choice!

All that for just a photo call? I mean, sure, but you can make totally make the case that this may have been intended for something else.

Same goes for Chrissy Teigen who was joking on IG that she couldn’t make it to the Met Gala because of a neck injury and later clarified that she was never supposed to be going to the Met Gala but then last night showed up in this dress at the ACE Awards and, well, you wouldn’t be the only one making assumptions. This would have worked on Monday night. And much better than what Rita Ora tried
