Intro for April 14, 2026

Dear Gossips,

In his piece on Sabrina Carpenter’s headlining performance at Coachella this past weekend, MC mentioned the rumours that Madonna would be a surprise guest on Sabrina’s stage. That didn’t materialise – at least not this weekend. But something is happening. 

Late last night, Madonna scrubbed her Instagram. Many members of her team are also reportedly in Los Angeles and that’s not usually where she spends a lot of time. It’s pretty much a given right now that there’s at least a new single. Her website has also been updated with new visuals – a shot of her legs spread with a speaker in between them, LOL. And banners for Confessions 2.0.

The timing lines up too. Because it was 20 years ago that Madonna performed at Coachella, a month before kicking off the Confessions tour. So it’s an anniversary to kickstart a new era – clearly a dance-themed era.

So now the new rumour is that Madonna will join Sabrina on Friday for a three-song set, beginning with “Vogue”, then the new single, and followed by “Like a Prayer”. It is unclear whether or not Sabrina is a feature on the new track.

There are other factors fueling a Madonna comeback. She was seen in Venice a few weeks ago with Seth Rogen, Julia Garner, and The Studio team and Variety reported last week that the storyline is, indeed, related to her biopic, in which Julia was supposed to play her; obviously a satirical take on the development process and also, apparently, there will be something to do with standing ovations, and how out of control they’ve become at film festivals.

Madonna is coming for summer… and the rest of the year. I’m excited, still excited. After all these years, decades, really, Madonna’s ambition remains intact. She is the Mother of stunting and reinvention. What does she possibly have planned?
