This is the second PEOPLE exclusive of the week after breaking the news of Gisele Bundchen’s pregnancy. Early last night, PEOPLE reported that Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz have broken up after three years together and being engaged for a year. Just before that broke, though, Channing shared casting news on his IG stories.

Both he and Zoë are part of the cast of Alpha Gang, led by Cate Blanchett, about a group of alien invaders who plot to take over the earth until they start developing human emotions. According to Deadline, filming is supposed to start in the spring.

This is a big cast and sometimes, with ensembles, certain cast members don’t always work together. Given that this is supposed to be a “gang”, though, it seems unlikely that their characters will have no interaction.

Also on Instagram, at least so far, Channing has yet to scrub Zoë from his feed.

The caption on that post reads:

“This little sweet. She So tired bro. Every time I wondered if she’d break…. She just kept going and going and going. Always on the dig for truth. She pour’d every single ounce of her into this film. I’m so proud to stand ten toes down for her, this film and everyone in it. forever. Knowing what it took to make it. No one will ever know. Thank you for finding me and seeing me. I got you forever. Me and you back to back against it all. I’ll never blink. Let’s go. #blinktwice

That was eight weeks ago, just after the release of Blink Twice, the film that brought them together. By mid-September, Blink Twice was close to bringing in $40 million worldwide which would mean it doubled its budget and likely has broken even. That’s not a bad result for a first time feature filmmaker.

But maybe it’s the “back to back against it all”… of it all. They fell in love under a creative spell, bonded by a passion project. That’s pre-production, production, post-production, and then promotion. But then afterwards, when that thing is gone, when there’s no more to do, sometimes that empty space is too big to fill. Channing was seen in North Carolina last week working on a new movie, Roofman. When you spend time apart, certain realities come into focus.

Or maybe it was more dramatic. PEOPLE broke the story of their split. But just three weeks ago, on October 7, they had exclusive details about Chan and Zoë’s night out in Brooklyn, reporting that they looked “cozy and cute” together while at a performance of Levon Hawke’s play Picture Day. A source told PEOPLE that the two were “holding hands” and “looked very comfortable together and settled into their relationship”. Two weeks before that they were at Paris Fashion Week, he joined her there after being in Milan for the Versace show. That, however, was around the time that it became public that he and Jenna Dewan had finally reached a divorce settlement, six years after their split. The prolonged dispute was over money, Magic Mike money, which is a lot of money, considering it’s a whole ass institution now. Jenna was alleging that she was owed earnings from the Magic Mike brand as it was developed during their marriage. Channing was insisting that that income came in after their separation which… I mean from my vantage point, considering the timelines and when the movies and stage productions came out and when they were married, seems sus. Not really a good look for Chan. So is that what brought on the ick?

There was no ick just two months ago back in August when Zoë got up on stage at the Blink Twice premiere and in front of an entire audience called Chan the love of her life:

And as Sarah texted me last night, they were SO cute in the Criterion Closet, if you haven’t seen this, I guess it’s kind of bittersweet now.

Whatever is happening, then, seems freshhhhhhhh. Like I’m not sure they sat on the decision for very long before letting it leak.
