The Carters in the Hamptons

Beyoncé, Blue Ivy, and Jay-Z were in the Hamptons this weekend and, along with Kelly Rowland and other family, like Angie Beyincé, were seen at Ms Lauryn Hill’s acoustic show at The Club House.

At one point Wyclef joined for a five-song jam which we got to experience here in Toronto last December as Massey Hall. I’m not ever trying to go out in December on a school night but this concert was worth it. And, obviously, B was feeling it too.

B is wearing the Planes Hamptons Sweater Hoodie, a brand that Jay co-founded. This piece is pretty special – the perfect oatmeal colourway, the perfect thickness of the ribbing, contrasted with a tighter knit in the front pouch pocket, it looks like it’s beautifully lined, and that’s a classic font. Not for my closet because I have no connection to the place but I imagine for those who do, or want to pretend to, it’s probably an attractive buy. And it looks realllllly good on her.

We’re now counting down to a cultural global holiday – not just Beyoncé’s birthday on September 4, but this year it will also be the 20^th anniversary of her album B’Day, her second studio album and the follow-up to Dangerously in Love that delivered on the added pressure and expectation after the success of her first solo release. Some of the Hive’s most beloved tracks are on B’Day, like “Déjà Vu”, “Get Me Bodied”, and “Kitty Kat”. Also “Irreplaceable”. Basically no skips. She’s releasing a 20^th anniversary edition of the album and it’ll be interesting to see if there are any surprises coming… or not. Jay’s anniversary shows in Paris are happening a few days later. Can’t imagine she won’t be with him for those concerts the way she was a couple of weeks ago at Yankee Stadium.

What else happened today…

I don’t know what Jessica Biel was doing at Comic-Con. I do know now thanks to the Fug Girls that she was wearing a “vickie” and I don’t hate it as much as they do – it looks kinda cool from the side – but I hate the rollup on the pants and the shoe choice. Like loathe. (Go Fug Yourself) 

Kayleigh Donaldson asks an important and frustratingly obvious question: “Who on earth wants AI influencers?” She’s not the one being obvious – the fact that this question needs to be asked when it should be obvious that no one wants them is what’s maddening. (Pajiba)

There are easily a dozen concurrent conversations happening around The Odyssey and where award season is concerned because it’s such a big cast. So the questions will be ongoing for weeks and months about who will be submitted and in what category. Should Anne Hathaway be nominated for Best Actress or Supporting? I say lead. (Celebitchy)

I don’t give a sh-t about Aaron Rodgers but some people think it’s newsworthy that he’s reunited with his family. The reason I’m mentioning it here is because #JusticeforOliviaMunn – since she was initially blamed for his family estrangement when the real reason is he’s an asshole. (People)
