Dear Gossips,

We’ll get to Tomdaya at the Spider-Man: Brand New Day premiere last night since they’re almost always the main character whenever they show up together. But when Michael B Jordan makes a surprise appearance, everyone has to make room.

He is the reigning Best Actor Oscar winner for his performance in Sinners. He is a self-professed nerd, and a member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, from Black Panther of course. And he came adorably theme dressed in a vintage Spidey tee wearing the sh-t out of a pair of three-button pleated trousers, the sexiest geek there ever was.

MBJ has another connection to this film – he worked with Brand New Day director Destin Daniel Cretton on Just Mercy, so he was there to support several friends. And is clearly so proud of Tom.

Michael has kept a relatively low profile since award season culminated in his Oscar win. He’s stepped out here and there but for the most part he's been out of the spotlight, in post-production for The Thomas Crown Affair and also making deals behind the scenes. We already know that he and Austin Butler will be starring in Miami Vice ’85 directed by Joseph Kosinski. Filming is starting later this year with an expected release date of August 2027.

MBJ was there mostly as a fan and a friend last night so he wasn’t doing interviews but Entertainment Tonight did get off a question about the announcement about the new Black Panther and David Jonsson in the role.

He and Ryan Coogler are brothers, he’s always going to be all-in on whatever Ryan decides but, you know, the joke that’s going around on social media has to do with Damson Idris, who some were predicting might be in the running – but no longer, obviously, and one theory has to do with… Lori Harvey, LOL.

I don’t buy it. David Jonsson is the perfect choice. But the discourse is amusing, if not entirely accurate.
