Dear Gossips,

Challengers has now opened, first place at the box office, and inspiring countless memes and ceaseless conversation online. But just because the movie has arrived in theatres, don’t think that the fashion show is over.

Zendaya and Law Roach are still serving looks and staying super creative about how style is such a big part of this film and this character – by launching a new (faux) magazine with Tashi Duncan as its inaugural cover star:

The quality of this spread is as good, or better, than any real publication, obviously. And the outfits, MY GOD. This one is my favourite:

So…what’s next?

Well, the Met Gala, obviously. Zendaya is one of the co-chairs this year, and the honourary designer co-chair is Jonathan Anderson who also happens to be the costume designer for Challengers. Jonathan is JW Anderson, he is Loewe, so there is no doubt that Zendaya and Law will have collaborated with Jonathan for whatever she’ll be wearing next Monday. I can’t wait to see how these three interpret the theme.

But I also can’t wait to see whether or not Loewe’s other ambassadors will show up and how they might represent the brand and Jonathan’s vision. Greta Lee, as we noted throughout award season, has a great relationship with Jonathan Anderson. Taylor Russell is a Loewe ambassador and a f-cking showstopper. Loewe also has ambassadors based in the east, a region upon which the luxury brand market is so dependent. Yang Mi and Wu Lei are Loewe’s Chinese ambassadors. And just a couple of months ago, it was announced that Lim Ji-yeon had joined the family.

Ji-yeon played the villain in The Glory, the series was a massive hit for Netflix last year, and it was a huge breakout for her. Landing the Loewe deal is a direct result of her performance on that show. So I’m curious to see whether or not she’ll be there in addition to other Asian stars either based in the west or travelling over from the east who are aligned with other brands and fashion houses. The first Monday in May is, after all, Asian Heritage Month!

Under the weather today so most of our posts will be on the lighter side while I try to shut this thing down as soon as I can.

Yours in gossip,

Lainey
