I am begging Zendaya to stay inside and she can’t stop, won’t stop going outside. Today, or rather last night, it was the ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards in Los Angeles.
Zendaya went outside AGAIN for it, turning up in jeans, a corset, a metal choker, and very pointy shoes. Something about this look is giving me Y2K vibes, maybe the pointy shoes and jeans. Please, please, do not bring back 2000s fashion. It was so awful. Resist the bumster!
Also at the event were Halle and Chloe Bailey, Jeremy Pope, Leslie Jones, Shameik Moore, Andra Day, Teyonah Parris, Normani, Letitia Wright, and Oscar nominee Danielle Brooks. I love Danielle’s gown with the gold headpiece, and Teyonah Parris’s dress decorated with gold seashells is very fun.
I am wondering, though, if Barbie Pink’s reign of terror is coming to an end and the new Fashion Color is gold? I seem to remember a lot of gold and metallics on the spring/summer runways. Even Zendaya’s denim-based outfit has its share of metallic details and just plain actual metal in the accessories. Maybe after the softness of Barbiecore, we’re approaching like, Heavy Metalcore. Metallicore? We’ll workshop it, assuming Zendaya ever gives us a minute to breathe. Girl! Go inside! I need a nap!
