Reese Witherspoon is currently shooting a movie with Sofia Vergara called Don’t Mess With Texas in Louisiana. She plays a cop, obviously, and Sofia is a felon, and they’re runnin’ from the law, from the law, I say, from the law!
This won’t be the movie that takes Reese back to the Oscars. But Wild might be. Based on Cheryl Strayed’s memoir, the film was confirmed for a December 5 release which means they think it might be a contender, especially for Reese in the lead. Wild is directed by Jean-Marc Vallee who led two actors to Oscars this year – Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto in Dallas Buyers Club. And, of course, given that Reese’s husband is CAA super agent Jim Toth, well, she might have a chance. She knows how to work a campaign, after all. We’ve already seen it. Then there’s her lifestyle brand Draper James launching next year. Get ready for a Laura Jean Poon assault.
Have you read Wild? Even though I couldn't relate (a hike-journey of self-discovery), it was a great read because Strayed is such a strong writer. (And way better that that f-cking Eat, Pray, Love.) But Reese is not who I pictured. You?
