Earlier this week, Amber Heard and Johnny Depp reached a settlement and released a statement. Amber received $7 million in the divorce and, as I noted in my analysis of the statement, fought to get as specific as possible about why she was leaving her marriage. Basically: she was abused by her husband. In that same statement, she revealed that she would be donating her settlement proceeds. And, you’ll recall, in TMZ’s original report about the divorce agreement, they ended off by mansplaining to us that Amber never specified how much she would be giving to charity or to what charity, the implication being, at least to me, that it could be $5 and for Girl Guide cookies.

Yesterday Amber Heard confirmed her charities. And that she would be donating ALL OF IT. All $7 million. In her words:

"As described in the restraining order and divorce settlement, money played no role for me personally and never has, except to the extent that I could donate it to charity and, in doing so, hopefully help those less able to defend themselves.

As reported in the media, the amount received in the divorce was $7 million and $7 million is being donated. This is over and above any funds that I have given away in the past and will continue to give away in the future.

The donation will be divided equally between the ACLU, with a particular focus to stop violence against women, and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, where I have worked as a volunteer for the past 10 years alongside organizations like the Art of Elysium. Over the years, I have seen firsthand how more funding for staffing, better equipment and better medication can make the difference between life or death for a child.

I know these organizations will put the funds to good use and look forward to continuing to support them in the future. Hopefully, this experience results in a positive change in the lives of people who need it the most."

Well, if it wasn’t clear before, it’s pretty clear now, non? She had video. She had eyewitnesses. She had all kinds of documentation, including pictures, pictures that showed her bruises, her cuts. And still, it was supposed to have been faked for the money. Now that she’s given away the money though, now that she’s not the one spending the money, what would have been the point of falsifying those bruises, those cuts?

The bruises and the cuts were real. So let’s talk about what wasn’t real. Johnny Depp’s legal team accused Amber of lying about all of this for financial gain. In the end, those gains aren’t staying in her bank account. But Johnny Depp had people willing to testify on his behalf, his bodyguards who were there on the last night they were together, ready to claim in court that none of that sh-t went down. What does that say now about Johnny Depp and the people who surround and support Johnny Depp? What does it say about what Johnny Depp asks of the people who surround and support him?

Amber Heard’s statement and her donation haven’t just exposed Johnny Depp. They’ve exposed the entire operation of Johnny Depp.
