Emmy voting begins today, and one of the hopefuls is Natasha Lyonne, star of Russian Doll. Yesterday she attended a Netflix “FYSee” Q&A to promote the show’s Emmy hopes, alongside show co-creators Leslye Headland and Amy Poehler, her co-star Charlie Barnett, editor Todd Downing—that show depends so heavily on the editing, I am glad to see him included with the key creatives—music supervisor Brienne Rose, and cinematographer Chris Teague. Full Story

Netflix doesn’t often do big press pushes for their movies—Roma set a standard for awards potential, but outside of that, it’s like Netflix releases one trailer, then bang, the next week the movie is on the platform with little other fanfare. You may think that term has been overused and doesn’t mean much anymore, but how often do you get to use it on the O.G.s anyway?  As Maya Rudolph, Amy Poehler, and Tina Fey pointed out, they were not the Oscars hosts, despite being the first people to actually speak live on air, not counting Queen/Adam Lambert and the Smoke Machines. Full Story

In 2017 we learned of a Netflix project coming from Amy Poehler, Natasha Lyonne, and Leslye Headland. It had no title, we just knew Lyonne would star as a woman named Nadia, trapped at an “inescapable party”. Full Story

Let’s be real here – the Golden Globes hosting gig is 92% the opening monologue, because, as everyone tweets at 9:42pm ET, you forget that there was a host at all. The exception was in the Amy & Tina years, and we’ll get to those in a second. But the entire tone of the show is set in that monologue, on how many of the jokes land or bomb. Full Story
