Angelina Jolie was still in New York this week after the Gotham Awards where she received the performer tribute. She was seen at Atelier Jolie, where she continues to spotlight emerging artists and build a community for creative collaboration.

Most recently, a few weeks ago, she hosted a dinner and discussion with L’Enchanteur, the brand founded by twin sisters Dynasty and Soull Ogun, who won the 2024 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund

One of the things I noticed about that post on the Atelier Jolie IG account is that while Angelina is mentioned, she is not tagged. And I’m sure the Atelier’s social media managers know how tagging works. Angelina keeps her personal account very separate from her other endeavours though. She’s not posted in months on her personal IG, not even about Maria. So it’s quite intentional how they’re positioning Atelier Jolie to remain consistent with the vision and the mission statement, leveraging Angelina’s celebrity selectively and always and only to highlight other creatives.

As for Angelina, apart from the Atelier, obviously we’ve been talking about her as one of the candidates for a Best Actress Oscar nomination in a very competitive field. And she got an endorsement for her performance the other day by none other than Jane Fonda. Jane Fonda was on Bill Maher’s podcast and had just seen Maria and was very complimentary:

This is high praise from Jane. And she’s the one who introduced the subject, because she was clearly moved by the performance. Even when Bill tries to get her to gossip about Maria Callas, she brings it back to Angelina. I mean, I don’t know how many people will see this, because I try not to f-ck with Bill Maher if I don’t have to, but if Jane’s voting to decide the final five nominations, there’s a good chance that she’s putting Angelina’s name on that list of nominees.

Can we go petty now though?

Because we’ve been talking for months about how much Hollywood support Angelina will or won’t have given that she doesn’t really move in those circles, and the Oscars are a popularity contest. There’s a whole crew of celebrities who are always hanging out and going on holiday together voting for their friends.

Speaking of…

The Hollywood Reporter just published its 2024 Most Powerful Women in Hollywood list, and Jennifer Aniston is on there. She answered two quick questions for the piece:

My trick to staying calm right now:

“Turning off social media and the news has been extremely helpful.”

My 2025 Hollywood prediction:

“Anora wins an Oscar.”

It wasn’t specifically an Oscar question, it was a request to make a prediction about Hollywood. But she went in on the Oscar chat in favour of Anora. And you can’t talk about Anora without talking about Mikey Madison, in contention for Best Actress.

LOL, I see what you did there, Jen.
