The big show at Paris Fashion Week this weekend was Celine and Michael Rider’s debut collection for the house, stepping in the creative director position after the departure of Hedi Slimane. And these are big shoes to fill; sales at Celine doubled during Hedi’s tenure and he did pretty much the same at Saint Laurent before that. So there was pressure for Michael Rider, coming back to Celine after working there under Phoebe Philo and having to succeed what Hedi had achieved. By all accounts, the collection he delivered was both a tribute to Hedi’s aesthetic while introducing his own vision, a big success under what must have been some crazy ass expectations. 

 

Of course, with this kind of anticipation, Celine would have wanted to stack the front row, and there was a notable guest who showed up: Anna Wintour. Anna hasn’t been to a Celine presentation in years and it was reported in 2021 that Hedi was beefing with Anna and Vogue for how they were restructuring editorially, as one of his close friends, Emmanuelle Alt was one of the casualties. Hedi can keep a grudge, because Vogue of course is the fashion bible, and he resolutely refused to do business with them, and also abstained from the Met Gala. 

 

But with Hedi gone, and the Michael Rider era kicking off at Celine, Anna’s back in her seat, and while she was there, she took the opportunity to… thirst over a member of BTS. V aka Kim Taehyung has been a Celine ambassador for years, though he hasn’t been in Paris for a while due to his military obligations. Now that all members of BTS has fulfilled their duties, V made his return to Paris in support of Celine as one of the brand’s most important celebrity representatives, if not the most important representative. 

 

V's trip to Paris was viral all weekend, with footage of him partying and shopping and looking stupidly beautiful while strolling around town lit up social media over the past few days. But it all went nuclear when he met Anna and she immediately took the opportunity to invite him to the Vogue World Hollywood event in the fall. Vogue World has been a huge priority for Anna and it’s one of the reasons she stepped down as editor-in-chief of American Vogue (while retaining global editorial content responsibilities) – to give her more time to focus on managing other Condé Nast properties as well as her pet events, like the Met Gala and Vogue World. 

Anna has seen the impact of Korean stars at her parties. When Stray Kids attended the Met Gala in 2024, they had the most media impact value among male guests at the event – more than even Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, and Barry Keoghan combined. Stray Kids are huuuuuugely popular but BTS is on a whole other level, no disrespect. 

 

Anna is not unaware, BTS would be a huge get for her. So she went for it as soon as she could with V. Not just once… but twice.

This bitch is rarely that obsequious, LOL. 

Will be interesting to see if Tae, and other BTS members, have time for her in their busy schedules. V is expected to head to LA (if he’s not already on the way) to join RM, Suga, Jimin, and Jungkook who all departed to the US this weekend to start working on the new album. Jin and j-hope have their own solo commitments but there’s speculation that they’ll pop in and out in between and of course once they’ve completed that schedule they’ll go all in all seven. The album and the visuals and planning the tour in 2026 is the priority. Anna Wintour can wait.
