TNT: The Umbrella Theory

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were in New York last week while Travis was shooting a new campaign for Tommy Hilfiger. Travis was papped several times while he was working but Taylor chose to remain hidden – protected by umbrellas when entering and exiting nearby. The umbrellas were also put to use on Friday night when TNT went to Casa Cipriani, a private members club – and since they’ve been photographed so much in New York in particular, whenever they go out for dinner, there are now theories about why the energy is so undercover right now, with growing anticipation about their allegedly imminent wedding.

Some think that they were meeting about their wedding bands - something something about one of Taylor’s closest friends, Ashley Avignone, hanging out with Kindred Lubeck, who designed the engagement ring, the same night, after Kindred herself posted about spending time with Ashley on Instagram. I dunno, with all of Taylor’s secrety secrets, with more security around her secrets than seemingly the MCU, would any of them make it so obvious?

The umbrellas and the hiding are doing nothing to diffuse the obsession over this wedding, though, which Taylor no doubt has to be aware of. Maybe… she doesn’t mind. It’s arguably the most hyped American wedding of the century. And she’s keeping herself elusive, for whatever reason she doesn’t want to be seen right now, if not because of the rings then, maybe it’s a hair change, maybe it’s because it’s an update, a refreshment – if the wedding is really happening in the summer, certain treatments need to be timed a few months out, iykyk.

Or it could be as simple as Travis was wearing Ralph Lauren when he was just shooting for Tommy Hilfiger and the optics would be bad? The bigger point I’ve been trying to make is that for all that’s been claimed about who knows what about this wedding, I remain unconvinced that Taylor would allow that much information to be shared when she’s all about the surprise.
