It’s basically the three year anniversary of TNT this week – flashback to Sunday 24 September 2023, Taylor Swift showed up to watch Travis Kelce and Kansas City play against Chicago, confirming the rumours that they were dating. That was the beginning of phase one, a great gossip era, all of us were having a great time watching the showgirl find her best boy. Finally Taylor had found in Travis a person perfectly suited to her life, her celebrity, someone not too thirsty but willing and skilled enough to play the fame game…

And that first chapter in their lore came to a fairy tale end at the Super Bowl with a victory, Travis with another trophy to match all of hers.

Three years later and they’re married now, and it feels like Taylor and Travis are taking us back to those early days of TNT after their wedding; she’s been in the suite for both of KC’s games this season, watching Travis make his longest completion in years last week and score a touchdown this week, in an age-defying return to form – at least that’s what the NFL experts are saying, I’m just repeating what I’ve read.

I’m not here to talk about the sport, the only return to form I care about is the gossip, TNT September 2026 is giving TNT September 2023, with one major difference obviously: that’s her husband now.

I’ve seen some people online say this is cringe. I don’t find it cringe, to me it’s cute. If I were playing in a competitive sport, like a golf tournament for example, and made a great shot, I’d want my husband to shout in people’s faces that “that’s my wife!” But also, for some of us, it’s a turn-on when you’re into someone and they’re good at their jobs. This is a specific kind of attraction that I relate to where Taylor’s concerned – one of the reasons Taylor and Travis are so compatible and they’ve talked about it a lot is because they see similarities in their respective careers. Almost all of her previous romances were with men who presumably downplayed her work, how hard she works, how singular her work is, and Travis has made it part of the draw for him, without trying to take anything away from her. She’s been so complimentary over the years about her partners but they haven’t returned the enthusiasm. In this relationship there is a legitimate exchange in admiration from each person about the other’s respective career.

Which is why it was so ridiculous, the speculation months ago that she was encouraging Travis to retire. No one loves watching Travis be good at his job more than his wife.
