Taylor Swift: Winning and Losing

Taylor Swift has been under the radar since getting married but behind the scenes, we do know that she’s been campaigning. She attended at least one Emmys for your consideration event and at least one Grammys event for her The Eras Tour concert film and The Life of a Showgirl. No official Oscar FYC events are happening yet but given her participation at the Toy Story 5 premiere, there’s been some track laid on that front too for “I Knew It, I Knew You” contending in the Best Original Song category.

This weekend at the Creative Arts Emmys, Taylor’s The Eras Tour concert film went 0-for all its nominations with the Television Academy opting for the Benito Bowl and The Muppets in the variety show categories instead. She already has an Emmy so I don’t know that she was all that thirsty for this one.

On the upside, though, “I Knew It, I Knew You” is the #1 song on the country radio chart, the first time she’s reached that position on that chart in 13 years. That’s a win – not only for her catalogue but, of course, for her Oscar chances. And over the last couple of weeks, I’ve heard from good sources in country that her label was pushing hard for the achievement, especially since Ella Langley’s had such a chokehold with “Choosin’ Texas”.

Now that the Emmys are over, then, Taylor’s campaign efforts will most likely be focused on Grammys and then the Oscars. Given her fame and influence and the fact that she is always game to work the circuit, it seems unthinkable that she wouldn’t be nominated. At the same time, it’s also unthinkable that she would ever acknowledge that she’s actively campaigning. Plus right now there’s another priority.

Taylor and Travis Kelce were in New York this weekend and papped out for dinner. Those photos are exclusive, we didn’t buy them, but you can see them here. Kansas City plays next Monday 14 September, which is Emmys night, at home. She’ll be in the suite for the first time since becoming a wife.
