Like Sarah, I was not so much invested in the score of yesterday’s big game but the gossip angle: I was wondering if Hailee Steinfeld and Taylor Swift would say hello. I’m not sure if Hailee was at the game, so far no confirmation. Hailee is an early squad member and was the in the “Bad Blood” video (another tie-in for Rep TV); when I searched their names to look for photos, a bunch of headlines came up hinting at a new rivalry (the “Bad Blood” puns are too easy). 

 

To be clear, this is not what I think is happening. Both of these women perform at a very high level in an insanely competitive business. They understand winning and losing. Also, Taylor liked Hailee’s engagement post and you know she is careful about her social media.

 

Whenever Rihanna posts, we know her fans are asking about the album. Whenever Michael B. Jordan posts, you know what his fans are asking? Who is holding the camera?! It is a fair question and his cheeky smile is kind of fuelling it. Like he knows that we want to know. 

 

Sarah also touched on the Hugh Jackman divorce and before Conan was announced, I was sure that Hugh and Ryan would host the Oscars. In hindsight, they were right to pass on it (if there was a solid offer). It would be terrible timing for Ryan with the Blake lawsuit because he would be completely picked apart (even if he did a great job) and Hugh’s hard-launch with Sutton would still be a conversation. That said, I could see these two hosting sometime down the road.

Jacquemus rose to fashion fame with the Chiquito bag but the issue with It Bags is that they are a tricky foundation to build on. Sure, there’s the Chanel 11.12 flap bags, but very few have that kind of staying power (the Birkin wasn’t introduced at Hermes until 74 years after its founding ). The Fendi baguette, the Dior saddlebag, the Prada backpack, the Louis Vuitton Neverfull come and go. In November, it was widely reported that Jacquemus was in financial trouble (as are a lot of independent brands) and had tons of unsold stock, along with quality control issues. 

 

Anna Wintour would be very aware of all these issues, but she was at the most recent Jacquemus show and Christy Turlington walked in it. Christy is a huge get for a runway show. Maybe the trouble has passed?

 

This has nothing to do with the lawsuit or even that movie (he could also do this with Gossip Girl) but I think this is one of the most entertaining imitations I’ve ever seen. The mouth work is breathtaking!!!!
