A Quiet Place Again

Here’s a happy surprise, I did not know we’re getting a third A Quiet Place movie, mainly because I try not to know things about John Krasinski. A Quiet Place is an exception; it’s the most interesting work Krasinski has done since The Office (important to note that A Quiet Place is the original idea of writers Bryan Woods and Scott Beck).

I like the first two Quiet Place movies, and I REALLY like the spin-off, A Quiet Place: Day One, starring Lupita Nyong’o, and no, not just because of the cat. I like Day One the most because it’s the tightest narrative. It’s just forward momentum the entire time, almost everything we learn about the characters and the world building comes from visual and context clues. It’s very tight storytelling, which is especially engaging in a high-concept world like A Quiet Place.

But I am still interested to see how Krasinski wraps it all up with the third film. Cillian Murphy is returning as the reclusive Emmett, and Jack O’Connell is joining the cast as a new, unnamed character. They were filming yesterday in New York, Cillian Murphy, as always, looks THRILLED to be perceived by the public (affectionate).

The film will also bring back Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe, and Millicent Simmonds as the Abbott family, but also new to the cast is Katy O’Brian. I have hyped Katy O’Brian before, she is AMAZING in Love Lies Bleeding, and ever since then she has been stealing scenes from the likes of Tom Cruise and Glen Powell. I REALLY need someone to give Katy O’Brian another leading role soon, she is so magnetic and commanding as a performer, yet so charming and engaging. She’s everything you want and she’s tall* and has muscles! There IS a market for this, believe me, Hollywood!

I don’t think A Quiet Place Part III will be a leading role for her, as she is coming into the final installment of a trilogy, but it sure would be nice for Katy O’Brian to headline another project sooner rather than later.  

*Height might be relative. I am very short and she seemed tall to me, but again, I am very short.
