Exactly a year ago at this time, Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie were in Toronto, having just secured their leading roles in a small Canadian-produced drama with a tiny budget, and no one had ever really heard of them before. Now, a year later, they’re invited to everything, including the Met Gala for the very first time. This was inevitable, from the moment they popped off.

Connor will mostly likely be in Saint Laurent, since he’s an ambassador for the house, which is the fashion sponsor of this year’s event. He also returned to Studio 8H on Saturday when Olivia Rodrigo was hosting SNL in head-to-toe Gap x Victoria Beckham.

This is a full circle moment because a couple of weeks ago, when Victoria was on SiriusXM with Andy Cohen, she talked about how obsessed she is with his style. Connor, no doubt, would have heard about this, and on his body, he’s pretty much letting her know… same.

For Hudson, it’s Balenciaga. Here he is arriving at his hotel with a brown Balenciaga City bag so I think it’s pretty obvious who he’ll be representing tonight – and it shouldn’t be surprising that the fashion houses are recruiting their most of-the-moment friends and ambassadors to generate as much attention as possible tonight.

At the Met Gala these days, for all of the brands, results are measured in virality, the official term is media impact value (MIV). Hudson and Connor have consistently delivered on MIV this year with their appearances at various award shows etc. Will be interesting to see, now that the Heated Rivalry hype has plateaued (after a sustained and lengthy ascent), whether or not that MIV will hold at the Met Gala.

The members of BLACKPINK have also been high MIV performers at the Met Gala over the last few years. Lisa is a member of the host committee, and a Louis Vuitton ambassador, she’ll be there tonight. Rosé has been a longtime ambassador for Saint Laurent, we’ll likely see her. And Jennie is with Chanel, she has already been making the rounds at the parties this weekend, and she stepped out in the Chanel Superman sweater from the subway collection a few months ago.

There will be even more Korean representation tonight. Hoyeon arrived yesterday and as I mentioned last week, Ahn Hyo-seop will be attending his first Met Gala tonight; he was seen outside the hotel, boyfriend coded.

If we’re talking about MIV, Hyo-seop’s appearance at the Oscars back in March was a highly trafficked moment, once again demonstrating the global popularity of Korean dramas. Hyo-seop is confirmed to be with the Valentino team tonight and this is also good promotion for his current Netflix series, Sold Out on You which is topping the Netflix non-English charts around the world perhaps because he looks delicious in sweats and henleys that aren’t doing much to conceal the fact that his body is insane. If you are unfamiliar, let me get you acquainted – this is a scene from season three of Dr Romantic which, in my opinion, is the Korean comfort watch counterpart to Grey’s Anatomy.
