Another week closer to the end of the year—I am TELLING you, it’s the SUN’S FAULT—another “of the year” red carpet. This time, it’s GQ’s Men of the Year (men of the “year”, I dispute this passage of time), which also includes some women.

Chiefly, Sydney Sweeney, who is one of their cover stars for MOTY. She showed up in a dress I don’t hate, which makes sense as it is vintage mid-90s Versace.

Also on hand was her fellow cover star, Hailey Bieber, in a similarly themed dress, though I just cannot with whale tail coming back.

Halle Bailey and Olivia Rodrigo were there, too, and several women turned up with their partners, including Carrie Coon and Tracy Letts, Task star Tom Pelphrey and Kaley Cuoco, and Morgan Spector and Rebecca Hall.

Real “we like your vibes” vibes with those two.

As for the men, Patrick Schwarzenegger is trying to keep that White Lotus momentum going. He wants us to know that he’s not like other guys, he’s a COOL guy.

Some real cool guys include Stephen Colbert, Simu Liu, Anderson.Paak, Regé-Jean Page, Seth Rogen, and Oscar Isaac. It’s amazing how hard Oscar Isaac DOESN’T try and still, he’s the coolest guy.

But the most fun face on the red carpet is by far Kevin Woo, aka Mystery Saja of the Saja Boys, from KPop Demon Hunters.

The cockles of my heart, they are warmed by the ongoing breakout success of everyone involved in KPop Demon Hunters. I loved seeing all the Saja Boy and Hunter/x costumes on Halloween, and I look forward to KPDH making a run at Oscar. It’s a frontrunner for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song, the question is if Netflix’s not-so-little hit will infiltrate the Best Picture race. Even though the film is a huge hit, it’s a long shot for Best Picture, and not just because of the Netflix of it all. Only three animated films have ever been nominated for Best Picture: Beauty and the Beast, Up, and Toy Story 3. So Best Picture remains a longshot, but I do like the energy behind the push. KPop Demon Hunters is fun, it’s just fun having this film, its music, and its cast in the zeitgeist.
