Sandy in the City

This is very exciting for those of us, and it’s not just a few, who can’t wait for Practical Magic 2. Not that we need September to be here any sooner than it needs to be, but the release of the movie in September, just after Labour Day, might make it that much easier to ease out of summer and into the fall.

As noted earlier this week, Joey King has confirmed that Practical Magic 2 promotion has started, and Nicole Kidman is also in New York, just seen last night at the Lioness season three premiere. Now Sandra Bullock is in town…

So the Owens sisters, and Sally’s two daughters, are all in the same place at the same time. Sandy is not an NYC person. She spends a lot of time in Austin and some of the time in LA, though she does have property in New York City but the point is… it’s pretty safe to assume that she’s there because she and her castmates will be witching soon. Looking forward to seeing them all together, of course, but Sandy especially since this will be her first film in four years.

As we know, Sandy’s been through it in the time since her last movie. It’s wonderful, then, that this was the project she came back to after her loss – some place cozy, some place familiar, and loving, and a little offbeat. With magic sprinkled throughout. Also, Practical Magic 2 is why she joined Instagram, and most of her posts have been in support of this film, but it will also be the first time she’ll be on a press tour using the platform, and I’m curious to see what that will look like.

But before the work starts, she’s doing some shopping. Her son Louis (not pictured) was with her today and he’s 16 now, which is a trip. Louis, by the way, made one of the most high-key celebrity baby debuts of the 2000/2010s, when he was introduced to the world on the cover of PEOPLE Magazine. That alone was newsworthy but what made it that much more incredible was that, at the time, Sandra was a major main character in the gossip ecosystem because of the fallout from Jesse James’s mess. Somehow, even though she was such a heatscore during that period, she managed to lock down any leaks about Louis – nobody suspected a thing, nobody broke the news before she could. She had control of the entire reveal from beginning to end while under a microscope. It’s one of the most baller celebrity announcements of all time.
