Challengers opens on Friday… and I am so curious to see what the box office for this film will be. It’s a niche film with a huge star. So while, no, this is not going to be a superhero box office or even a Dune box office, I do wonder what the box office will be, what the expectations are, and what the discourse will be next Monday in terms of whether or not those expectations were met.

Also… what are you wearing to see it, LOL.

Because on Instagram, Law Roach posted a request – Law wants us to wear our tennis core:

People have been doing this already. Tennis core was already an emerging fashion trend of 2024, in large part because there’s been so much anticipation for this movie, and then, of course, came the press tour, and all of Zendaya’s fits. So on social media over the last couple of weeks, the girls are wearing their tennis whites and posting on their accounts. Tennis clothing is already pretty cute though. Can Zendaya please play a golfer next so that she and Law can disrupt that fashion game?

On his own IG account, Law has been sharing some of the tennis core posts he’s been seeing online but he also shared a series of vintage tennis posters:

This is Show Your Work. This is Law giving us a glimpse into his preparation, into what he was flipping through when he and Zendaya were figuring out her wardrobe for this press tour. And it’s another example of why styling is so much more than just ordering things online and trying them on. Rather it’s truly respecting the aesthetic history of the sport and finding ways to bridge those visuals from then to now. And do it in a way that isn’t straight imitation but inspiration. You can see in all of these posters hints of that past in every single one of Zendaya’s looks for Challengers.

We got yet another look this weekend, this time all pink, a crop connected by a string to a bell skirt – it’s giving athleisure and tea party throwback at the same time, so f-cking good, as usual. And this was really just for a photo call during the junket, she wore something else for the junket.

As for the junket, shameless subscription appeal yet again for The Squawk because there was a moment from the junket that went viral and in this week’s mailbag, I’ll give you the inside baseball on it from the reporter’s perspective. Are you a subscriber?!
