It was a big award show weekend – and Teyana Taylor wasn’t present but she was part of it.
Teyana made her leading lady feature film debut in A.V. Rockwell’s film A Thousand and One and as I wrote months ago, she’s a revelation, and coming out of SXSW last year, there was some buzz that she could have been part of the award season conversation. A Thousand and One won the award for Best First Feature for A.V. Rockwell at the Spirit Awards yesterday. That’s how impressed the industry has been with both Teyana and her director.
And so she’s building on that momentum, so much so that even though she was nominated for a Spirit Award for her performance in the film, she did not attend…because she is working. Teyana is currently shooting Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest as yet untitled film with Leonardo DiCaprio. This isn’t confirmed but many are assuming that the movie is an adaptation of Thomas Pynchon’s Vineland, with Leo playing Zoyd Wheeler.
Here he is with Teyana filming a scene where they appear to be in the middle of a robbery and confronted by the cops. At one point, and this made me laugh, Leo apparently slaps Teyana on the ass suggesting that their characters are romantically linked. Or that his character would like to be romantically linked with hers. And now I’m so interested to see how that works on screen and whether or not I buy it.
As for Leo’s real life romance – the update is that there is no update; Leo and Vittoria Ceretti were just seen together last week (photos in the gallery below) and she turns 26 in June.
