Leslie and Sam are outside
Emmy nominations are happening right now—they’ll be announced on July 15—and as such, Emmy hopefuls are very outside. Leslie Bibb starred in The White Lotus, though she isn’t garnering the kind of buzz Carrie Coon and Aimee Lou Wood are, but still, she’s part of it, as is her partner, Sam Rockwell, who IS getting a lot of buzz for the dramatic guest actor category.
Leslie is currently on the cover of Cultured magazine, and they threw a party for her in New York last night. She was there, as was Sam Rockwell, as was their fellow White Lotus alum, Sam Nivola and his girlfriend, Iris Apatow.
Also present were Busy Phillips, Billy Crudup, and Chris Messina, sporting a mustache the internet will Have Opinions About whenever they realize it exists.
Bibb looks amazing in a two-piece ensemble, while Rockwell always looks like he just rolled out of bed, but to Lainey’s point about Brad Pitt, men aging, and rizz, Rockwell has plenty of rizz. Sam Rockwell is largely unchanged by time, he is the same public person he’s always been, with the same “thrift bin” style, so his charisma remains undented by time. Keanu Reeves is much the same. Anyway, we’re almost certainly going to see more of Leslie and Sam through Emmy season, as at least one of them will be getting a nomination. I’m not mad about it, they’re one of my lowkey favorite celebrity couples.

As an American I have no legs to stand on when it comes to the public figures of other countries and their shady finances, but like…where DOES Prince Andrew get his money? It seems like a question worth answering! At least with Trump, the grifts are in the open—crypto, his hotels and properties, his new cell phone business, his PAC, it’s obvious where to send your bribes contributions. But where does Prince Andrew’s money come from? Because apparently he has a lot of it and no one is sure how. Seems relevant! (Celebitchy)
Yesterday was Juneteenth in America, a holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the US. (At least in the Civil War era, the carceral state is built on slave labor.) Over at RogerEbert.com, they’ve curated some of the best Black writers and critics working today, offering a selection of reviews and features from Robert Daniels, Odie Henderson, Jourdain Searles, Soraya Nadia McDonald, among others.
There is so much good writing concentrated on this table of contents, especially Sonia Evans celebrating Ananda Lewis, and Danielle Scruggs on “Zola, Anora, and the DEI Mirage”. Happy reading! (RogerEbert.com)
