Fresh off Sundance, where The Wedding Banquet got a very warm reception, Lily Gladstone is working, this time in Albuquerque alongside Bryan Cranston in a new film called Lone Wolf. For a lot of people, Bryan Cranston in Albuquerque brings back the Breaking Bad feels, but for me it’s seeing Lily at work, getting her bag, staying booked and busy.

Lone Wolf comes from director Mark Pellington, veteran director of many music videos and the 2002 film The Mothman Prophecies (I remember seeing that in theaters, I am so old). It’s written by Tom Chilcoat, whose previous film starred Brian Austin Green, so this is a step up for Chilcoat. It sounds like the kind of movie that could very easily star Mark Wahlberg—a troubled vet is set up to take the fall for an assassination, will stop at nothing to protect her son. The twist here is that the troubled vet is played by Lily Gladstone, instantly lending this film some class and cache, which Bryan Cranston also contributes. These are actors who make everything they show up in at minimum 25% better. If Shea Whigham somehow pops up in this film, we’re already batting .500.

You know who IS in this film? Chet Hanks. The once and future Chet Haze has been acting since the 2000s, but recently he’s actually been getting noticed for it, from appearing in Your Honor alongside Bryan Cranston, to showing up in the trailer for Kate Hudson’s upcoming Netflix series, Running Point. Of all of Tom Hanks’ acting children, what if the one who ends up with the brightest career is Chet? Colin Hanks probably doesn’t have that on his bingo card.
