Millie Bobby Brown and her husband, Jake Bongiovi, were at the premiere of The Electric State last night. I have no idea what this movie is about, but I do know it came with a huge budget and we can talk more later about the production.

Today, right now, the conversation is about MBB’s styling for the carpet.

This dress? It’s f-cking gorgeous, like the design. I wish maybe it was in a different colour, a brighter metallic, but I’m about the elements – the little caped jacket, snatched through the ribs, the gathering around the waist… it’s giving Bridgerton and Shakespeare in Love (same thing?) and I love it.

As for the hair, Pamela Anderson comes to mind and that’s why it’s a throwback, not just in the hairstyle but in the overall presentation. Let me explain.

Millie is 21 years old and much of the commentary today about her look from last night is that it’s too old for her. That she doesn’t look youthful. But if you were around back in the 80s and 90s, when Pam was on the come-up, and she was around the same age as MBB is now, she looked older too. In those times, a 21-year-old looked 30. That started changing in the late 90s and early 2000s. But… consider this: Julia Roberts was 22 when Pretty Woman premiered. Which means she’d have been 21, Millie’s age, when she filmed the movie. Don’t lie to me and tell me that you see “21” when you watch Julia in Pretty Woman. This is my point about throwing it back…

Millie Bobby Brown is playing this look the way an actor her age would have played it 30 years ago. And in doing so, there’s a discussion we can then have about how our eyes have changed, for better and for worse. But that’s for another day after we’ve thought about it some more.

What else happened today…

James Gunn is already “weary” with all the madness that comes with Superman and this is someone who has MCU experience and the movie hasn’t even come out yet. Also, he’s a dude. Imagine if this were a woman? (Pajiba)

Speaking of yelling over a movie, there will definitely be yelling over Snow White. And Rachel Zegler has a good response to it. (The Mary Sue)

The first look in this slideshow of the new Richard Quinn collection and who could you see wearing this? Our minds all went to Ariana Grande, right? I don’t know if that’s good thing or a bad thing but if she shows up in this during the Wicked 2 press tour (which… is starting sooner than you think considering the movie comes out in six months!!!) I would not be surprised. (Go Fug Yourself)

Hollywood Sliding Doors, Devil Wears Prada Edition: Kate Hudson could have played Anne Hathaway’s role. (Celebitchy)

OMG. This article…triggered me. I struggle with this every day, deeply. My ma is a very angry person. I actively try not to be like her. Sigal Samuel wrote my feelings. (Vox)
