Unstoppable is the title of a new film that Jennifer Lopez is in but that could also apply to Nicole Kidman because if the category is this tweet…

… we have another entry. This is Nicole at the premiere of the new animated feature Spellbound last night in New York. But first, a note on Spellbound which is the first film in the multi-year deal between Netflix and Skydance. I’m talking business like this because you know who heads up animation at Skydance?
John Lasseter. John Lasseter is the co-founder of Pixar, he directed Toy Story and Cars and more and has produced SO MANY of Pixar’s biggest hits, including but not limited to WALL-E, The Lion King, Finding Nemo, etc etc etc. You’ll recall, he left Disney in 2018 after it was revealed that he was a creep at work and also upheld a workplace culture that limited and/or undermined women’s advancement. Just one year later he was brought on at Skydance, prompting Emma Thompson to quit a Skydance project and publish an open letter explaining why.
No one is talking about this anymore though. And that’s my point here: what cancel culture?!? After last Tuesday? Nobody should be talking about cancel culture ever again.
Now to Nicole who is promoting her THIRD project in three months. And the range! Babygirl is a sexy, provocative dramatic film. The Perfect Couple is a frothy soap opera television series. Spellbound is animation. This bitch does not quit…
Although, surprisingly, this fit is a miss. Not necessarily the dress but the hair and makeup styling for this event isn’t ranking among Nicole’s best looks. There’s something going on with the eye makeup that’s drawing everything too close together. And this hair, for me, is terrible. It’s too tightly crimped. What happens when hair is too tightly crimped is that it makes the top section, where the crimper can’t quite get to, so obviously contrasted in texture. The top looks straight and the crimp starts so suddenly, the effect is amateur hour.
This is a good photo to illustrate:
This is why it’s so delicate, how long you hold the heat for, especially with a crimp iron. Nicole’s hair is naturally super curly though, so I suspect the stylist probably had to hold it down for a while in order to get the hair to bend in a different way from how it wants to in order to achieve this particular texture.
Still, as much as it’s not working for me, what I do appreciate is that they tried. That Nicole is open to trying. That after all these years in the spotlight, and known for serving some of the most memorable looks, she remains adventurous, she sees the fun in it, even when it’s not always a hit.
