Usually, when I see leopard print, my associations are Jackie and Joan Collins and body-con. That is, it’s a coat, worn dramatically, or something tight. Relax – I know that that’s not the only time leopard print comes up (there are shoes and bags etc), I’m just saying it is commonly associated with a certain kind of feminine dressing that’s usually a more bombshell version of sexy.
There aren’t a lot of baggy sack dresses in leopard print, as seen here on Keira Knightly. I love it. Now I think I want one – look how cute it is with the moto jacket and boots! Totally different style profile from how leopard print is normally presented.
Keira is pregnant with her second child. She and husband James Righton are in Paris for the Chanel Resort presentation, officially Virginie Viard’s first show since Karl Lagerfeld’s death. As always, it was a spectacle, with the Grand Palais transformed into a train station. There’s a spareness to the design, though, that I think may be a tribute to the absence of Karl – and thematically too, a train station is arrivals and departures which certainly represents what’s happened with Chanel the last few months.
As for Keira – in January she wrapped on a film that I cannot wait to see. It’s called Misbehaviour about the real life 1970 Miss World pageant which at the time was the most watched TV event in the world with 100 million viewers, but it was disrupted that year by feminist protestors and then, eventually, the title was won by Miss Grenada, who became the first black woman to win the crown. In the movie, Miss Grenada is played by Gugu Mbatha-Raw. Suki Waterhouse is Miss United States. Not sure what role Keira is playing but…DON’T YOU NEED THIS MOVIE IN YOUR LIFE NOW?
