Sienna Miller is at WAR

Never heard about this series until yesterday but now that I know, I’m in. Also, it’s HBO Max, and George Kay (Lupin etc) is the showrunner so it’s giving prestige…but with a healthy amount of trash. And it should be a little trashy considering the subject matter.

WAR is about a tech billionaire and a movie star who are getting a divorce, and the legal battle that ensues. So, the lawyers and their legal strategy is also part of the story. If I were pitching it, then, it would be Beef and Industry plus Damages and Succession. In short, everybody is an asshole here.

And there’s an added layer of intrigue because the divorcing couple is played by Dominic West and Sienna Miller, both of whom have had their fair share of public scandal. Dominic West cheated publicly on his wife Catherine FitzGerald and Sienna Miller was cheated on publicly when she was with Jude Law so it’s not like they would be, um, unfamiliar with the sensationalism in this story. I like how Sienna seems to be dialing up the camp in her performance from the trailer, leaning in hard to the woman scorned angle.

A show about a rich couple hating each other and behaving deplorably, with Sienna in a red lip with a great blowout? Might be the perfect watch to get cozy with in the fall.

There was a premiere event for WAR in London on Tuesday. Sienna and her partner, Ollie Green, just welcomed their son earlier this year. The baby boy is their second child together, her third. Her first is Marlowe, with Tom Sturridge, and Marlowe joined her on the carpet last night.

I’m sorry, excuse me, what? Marlowe is now 14 years old, HOWWWWW. It feels like seven or eight, tops. But here we are, a proper teenager, and possibly a future nepo baby. Her face is all the best parts of her mother and father’s faces. Maybe she’ll surprise us all and become a climate change researcher.
