TIFF has a television section called “Primetime” (I will keep my opinion about TV shows playing at film festivals to myself but I will also mention that television festivals DO exist), and the highlight of this year’s Primetime program is Yaga, the Crave series starring Carrie-Anne Moss, Noah Reid, Clark Backo, and, of course, Hudson Williams in his first post-Heated Rivalry role.

I liked the look of the Yaga teaser released during Comic Con, and they’ve also released a three-minute sneak peek which I am vibing with, too.

As a huge Letterkenny fan, it’s great to see Clark Backo (who played Rosie, a real good gal) working in another mode. And there’s something just a little bit hapless about Noah Reid as a private investigator that I dig, too. It’s lowkey giving Columbo, like maybe don’t write him off just because of the goatee and the presumption of being called a detective when he isn’t a cop. I am looking for a new spooky season watch, and Yaga is ticking all the right boxes so far.

At the TIFF premiere, Noah Reid looked handsome, Carrie-Anne Moss looked foxy, Clark Backo looked ethereal (those CHEEKBONES), but of course, everyone is really looking at Hudson Williams.

The red details on his suit are totally getting lost on the red carpet, which is the exact same shade of what appears to be a great pair of shoes:

That’s too bad. Somehow, Hudson showed up at TIFF in the one outfit that would have really popped against the Emmys’ horrible blue carpet. Is this some kind of tease? Some kind of “you coulda had it all” moment from Hudson? Since Heated Rivalry couldn’t compete at the Emmys? If so, brilliant move. If not, it’s a waste of a great pair of red shoes
