Today is Tom Cruise’s birthday, he’s 57 years old. He’s spending it where he’s most comfortable, the only place he calls home: on set. Here he is in LA continuing work on Top Gun: Maverick. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Tom – and whenever we do see him these days it’s when he’s shooting. The last time he was involved in a headline it was last week, when Us Weekly published their most recent cover story about the latest Scientology lawsuit, with sources saying that he knows the most about the shady sh-t that the Church has been accused of.

This weekend marked the 7 year anniversary of Katie Holmes pulling off her ninja escape from their marriage. It’s been 14 years since they first met and fell in love so they’ve now been apart as long as they were together. Katie and Jamie Foxx have been together almost as long as she and Tom – it’ll be six years in August since rumours first surfaced about them dating after they were seen hanging out at a party in the Hamptons. Tom, meanwhile, hasn’t been in a relationship since. At least not that we know of. Because there are no reliable usual sources where he’s concerned. He doesn’t keep much company in Hollywood. His entire circle, reportedly, is contained within the Church of Scientology and it’s not like those people are running their mouths to Page Six. The only information we could get about Tom comes from the set, like film crew and production staff. And you know Tom when he’s on the job – he shows up on time, he stays as long as everyone else, he runs his ass off, he sacrifices body parts, and it’s all business.

Speaking of business though – the other big headline lately about Tom Cruise had to do with Justin Bieber challenging him to a fight in the octagon. Which was a joke and then not a joke, because UFC president Dana White wants it to happen:

As a guest speaker at Hashtag Sports 2019 on Thursday, White confirmed TMZ’s previous report that he engaged in talks about potentially promoting the bout.

“I should have known this was going to be the first question,” White laughed when he was asked in the opening few seconds of the Q&A. “Listen, if I can make that fight, I’d be all over that fight. It’d be the biggest pay-per-view in the history of pay-per-view.”

When moderator Jason Gay asked White if it was true he was seriously contacted about putting the bout together, White confessed.

“It is true,” White said. “As crazy as that sounds, that is true. … I don’t want to use any names, but I was at home on a Sunday, and I got a call with two big guys on the phone. They were telling me this could possibly happen and this could be real. I’m like, there’s no way that this is really going to happen. But if it does, call me back. I’m in.”

The “two big guys” he’s referring to are likely not Tom and JB. Probably it’s the money, whoever wants to put up the cash. So it sounds like if Tom and JB want to do it, the financials are in place. It’s a f-cking crazy idea. But in our times, it’s probably not the craziest idea.
