Dear Gossips,

It’s summer, which means it’s celebrity coupling season. It kind of always is celebrity coupling season, but there is something about summer that brings out the celebrity weddings, celebrity date nights, and celebrity pairings that fuel gossip for weeks and months (except in the summer of 2012, when it was all about breakups). It’s not a coincidence that Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau became red carpet official during summer, that’s celebrity coupling season for you. But now Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau, whose celebrity couple nickname should just be Cheesy Corn, were photographed canoodling in Santa Barbara. You can see the photos here at Page Six.

On a scale of “Kellan Lutz reading in a tree” to “Bradley Cooper reading Lolita to Suki Waterhouse”, where does this display rank on the celebrity scale of second-hand embarrassing public displays? On the one hand, it’s hardly the worst PDA. They were having a picnic! A wholesome activity! On the other hand, they are Cheesy Corn. There’s something just slightly mortifying (for us) about this whole ordeal. In the realm of politicians—current or former—and their significant others, you know who I think about a lot? Rama Duwaji, Zohran Mamdani’s aloof wife. I wonder what she’s up to? It is simply not our business.

But since it is celebrity coupling season, Cheesy Corn are not the only celebrity pair in the news. Over the weekend, Sean Evans and Keke Palmer were spotted having dinner in New York. This after Sean Evans declared Keke Palmer his crush, and they shared a lil kissykiss on Hot Ones.

No official confirmation that it was a date, but…it looks like a date. Regardless, they’re adorable, and among Keke’s many talents is interviewing, which is also Sean Evans’s talent. They share a talent and a connection over this skill, so even if it’s not a date, maybe they’ve made a friend who understands something of their weird job and everything that comes with it. Friend dates are fun, too.

But don’t get me wrong, I am absolutely rooting for Keke and Sean, even if it’s just a summer fling. What is the opposite of Cheesy Corn? Sincere…berries? We need to workshop this. Especially if Keke Palmer and Sean Evans are going to make a habit of being seen out and about together. Oh please, gods of celebrity coupling season, let them be seen out and about together again!

Live long and gossip,

Sarah
