I wonder if Reese Witherspoon has already sent a thank you card to Harry Styles and Emily Ratajkowski because, as mentioned in today’s open, Reese’s divorce made headlines for a minute on Friday but then Gwyneth came along and did her a solid and then over the weekend, Harry and EmRata hooking up in Tokyo basically wiped Reese off the front page.
For those of you who haven’t heard by now, which means you’ve been off social media for days, Harry and Emily weren’t just seen together in Tokyo, they were making out in Tokyo. There’s video of it here. There’s also video of them dancing before making out here.
Some people are calling this a PR stunt. Here’s why I don’t think it’s a PR stunt. First of all… why? What could Harry possibly need the PR for? And why would he agree to go along with whatever PR you think Emily is after? Second, and more convincingly, the reason I don’t think it’s PR is because, well, if it was PR, I’m not sure Harry would want to be seen as such a bad kisser? I mean, this is giving first kiss during Spin the Bottle, not international heartthrob. If he staged this kiss, you’d think he’d serve more lip swag. As you can see, Emily is trying to bring the technique, but he’s not giving her much to work with, LOL.
Anyway, Harry has been on tour in East Asia for a couple of weeks, with stops in Bangkok, Manila, Seoul, and wrapping up with two shows in Tokyo. And now he has six weeks off before resuming the tour in Europe in May. A convenient time for his new love interest to join him for a bit of a break.
Harry and EmRata have known each other a while. Interestingly, back in 2014, when pressed to answer a question about his celebrity crush, Harry said, “Emily from Gone Girl”. So I guess he manifested this for himself all these years later. Also interesting, not only have Harry and Emily been acquainted for some time, Olivia Wilde was part of that equation at one point – here are Olivia and EmRata at Harry’s show last summer:

There have also been rumours coming out of DeuxMoi that the three of them were intimately together-together on occasion. It’s not like we’ll ever get confirmation on that, but since Olivia has exited this narrative, now the question is how permanent Harry and EmRata really are. Harry’s just come out of a two-year relationship and will be on the road until the end of July. EmRata ended her marriage last summer and has stayed winning ever since – and to be clear, there’s nothing wrong with her getting her (sex)/life; I really enjoy how she refuses to be shamed for it… although they’re trying.
We saw how they came for Olivia when she and Harry were together. And it’s no different with Emily, I’m sure, because for a certain segment of Harry’s fans, if he can’t be with one of them, the only one he could possibly be with is Louis Tomlinson. EmRata though? She’s not one who’s easily bothered by trolling and harassment. The more they hate, the harder she’ll love. I’m looking forward to this.
