The Leaky TNT Wedding Guest List

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding is, allegedly, four weeks from this Friday, on July 3 in New York City. This was reported weeks ago by Page Six because, I guess, it’s that easy to find out details about what should be one of Taylor’s most closely guarded secrets? Every day there’s been guest list speculation – who’s invited, who’s not invited. And now TMZ claims to know of at least two people who have received invitations: Benson Boone and Karlie Kloss.

Benson and Taylor know each other from The Eras Tour because he opened for her on some of the stops. TMZ reported yesterday that he will be going since he’s not performing that day.

As for Karlie… well… there’s all kinds of lore about her friendship with Taylor, how they were once so close and then not close at all and the Kaylor Gaylor of it all so TMZ putting it on blast that Karlie’s been invited is intriguing – and I’m sure the people on Reddit will be super normal about this.

At this point, as I’ve said, any outlet can basically say anything about this wedding with no repercussion; it will trend on social media because of the level of interest in TNT and this event – and there will be no factchecking because who even does that anymore, not when the people overseeing 60 Minutes don’t seem to f-cking care. TMZ though makes it that much more interesting since their sources are usually much better than the Daily Mail so there’s already the assumption, at least from some people, that if TMZ is saying it, it might actually be accurate.

But that doesn’t track with how Taylor moves. Why is Taylor Swift (and her publicist Tree Paine by extension) letting TMZ be the official news ticker of her wedding? Does something so… Kardashian…  seem like something Taylor would co-sign? Invoking that name in a Taylor Swift post, I know, is asking for trouble. But that is the point. With all these leaks, the TNT wedding is giving Kardashian PR thirst. Which is why it feels so weird.

It’s possible, sure, that she doesn’t give a sh-t anymore and can’t be bothered to micromanage the spectacle, but then again, I’m not sure anyone would ever use the words “can’t be bothered” to describe this particular artist/celebrity/pop culture icon who, if anything, has always cared more than less. Taylor Swift doesn’t care that her wedding guests – or people associated with wedding guests – are running their mouths about being invited to the wedding? Who is she? Do we know her?
