Anne Hathaway’s Fourth of Five
Anne Hathaway is currently starring in The Odyssey which just became the highest-grossing film of Christopher Nolan’s career, an impressive achievement considering he’s directed three Batman movies. Then again, as he’s trying to establish with this adaptation, most if not all superhero stories can be traced back to Greek mythology. So it seems fitting that the OG is topping its descendants.
Speaking of odysseys though, Anne Hathaway’s on one this year. The Odyssey is actually her THIRD movie of 2026, and this week her fourth is about to open… fourth of FIVE total. She was at the world premiere of The End of Oak Street yesterday in Burbank, and it’ll be interesting to see how many more events there will be for this movie because it’s in theatres on Friday and so far the marketing has been kinda muted? Maybe it’s because everything else seems to be getting drowned out by The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day and those record box offices but while Oak Street of course won’t be bringing in the kind of totals of those two films, this is sci-fi, with dinosaurs, exactly the kind of movie people are looking for in August: loud, jump scares, probably low on logic but fun as f-ck. At least that’s what I’m seeing from early reactions. Current projects are sitting at $30 million for opening weekend. Will be interesting to see if people show up, if enough people have even heard of it. Because, again, marketing has been soft. And one of the marketing plays has been heavily criticised over the use of AI.
That was a couple of days ago. The marketing is now focused where it should be: Anne Hathaway. One thing is for sure about The End of Oak Street – Annie will be excellent, she always is. And her outfit at the premiere is now the story. That is correct. Annie’s wearing custom Atelier Prabal Gurung. A mullet halter over low rise baggy jeans – and that was always the intention. Flip through the carousel.
The red lining is gorgeous. The way the whole piece sits on her, with the arc framing her pregnancy, is perfect. And she looks so comfortable and glamorous at the same time.
But Annie’s not done. Because Verity is next, the fifth and final Anne Hathaway project of 2026. It’s been over a year since production wrapped and originally Verity was supposed to be released in May – but with Mother Mary and The Devil Wears Prada 2 going back to back, they pushed it to October 2nd. Will be interesting to see how they manage the promotion for that film with her due date etc. And then she’ll have a bit of a break but maybe not that much of a break, depending on what the Oscar campaign plans will be for The Odyssey. Universal hasn’t yet announced what category she’ll be submitted in, lead or supporting, but either way, there will be a strategy in place for her and she will likely have a presence during award season.
